Bomb disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion on a Second World War device.
A 250kg World War Two bomb that has shut a major route in Birmingham for two days has been detonated. A38 remains closed but working to reopen ASAP.
The A5127 Lichfield Road between Grosvenor Road and Cuckoo Road and all entry and exit slip roads at Junction 6 of the M6 were also closed.
A video shared by West Midlands Ambulance Service showed sand and debris flying into the air.
The bomb was found at Witton, close to Erdington and Aston Villa yesterday, and has led to nearby homes and businesses being evacuated for safety reasons.
About 100 residents living in the surrounding area spent their night in a special space that the Red Cross gave the city center, while almost 50 tons of sand reached the spot to shut down the bomb.

Police added they expect the A38 to be closed for most of Tuesday, with 250 tonnes of sand brought in as part of the "major, delicate" operation.
