When Game 6 against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals came down to the final seconds, Wall saved the Wizards' season with this incredible 3-pointer to tie the series at three games apiece.
In the two-minute report issued Saturday by the National Basketball Association league office analyzing the final moments of the Wizards' 92-91, Game 6 victory, it was determined Washington benefited from an error that ran an extra second off the game clock. The two teams will meet Monday night, looking to earn a shot at upsetting the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. As a team, the Celtics shot 40 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the three-point line as they put together their best performance on the road in this series only to fall painfully short.
LSU pounds Auburn 9-1 to complete sweep
Since his shutout of Arkansas five starts ago, Walker had allowed 17 runs and 27 hits in 18 innings. With Mississippi State losing Saturday at Georgia, LSU holds a half-game lead in the SEC West.
If you thought something funky happened with the clock late in the Boston Celtics' Game 6 loss to the Washington Wizards, the National Basketball Association agrees with you. Boston's Jae Crowder ran along the baseline toward inbounder Al Horford and got a screen from Kelly Olynyk, which the Wizards switched (late in games like this all teams switch virtually every pick). Boston arrived in Washington for Game 6 all in black and it backfired on them as John Wall and company played with a lot of emotion as their backs were to the, well, wall. At home in Game 2, Thomas scored more than half of his 53 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, outdueling Wall and putting on a historic playoff performance. The Washington guard finished with 26 points despite missing 11 of his first 12 shots. The home team is 9-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings and the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Boston.
