Demi Lovato, Kate Hudson collaborate on workout clothes

The collaboration between Kate's Fabletics brand and singer Demi was launched in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Demi Lovato's partnership with Fabletics came after she met co-founder Kate Hudson in the gym where they "connected".

"It's awesome to see the designs come to life and to have seen them on models today at the event...it makes it all real", Lovato said.

"Because she is fierce. It was ideal", said Hudson, 38.

Until then she had been a government lawyer who toiled in relative obscurity for most of her 27-year career in the Justice Department.

"Being active is a huge part of my life, so it was important for me to create a line that's accessible, comfortable and fashionable, while inspiring you to take care of your mind and body. She's been a very open communicator about things in her own life, which I think is really important for women to feel like they can come out and be really open about things that are going on in their life and finding happiness". The pop singer says the fashion line reflects her story. But the musician also believes feeling comfortable in the clothes you wear when exercising contributes to feeling body confident.

"I'm into mixed martial arts", she tells USA news show Extra. "I'm doing jujitsu and I'm kind of in love with it".

The athletic brand offers collections in sizes ranging from XXS to 3XL.

Meanwhile, Demi - who reportedly split from MMA fighter Guilherme "Bomba" Vasconcelos recently - celebrated five years of sobriety earlier this year, and said she felt "amazing" to have reached the milestone in her recovery.
