A six-run third inning kicked off an offensive explosion for the Colorado Rockies, who beat the Chicago Cubs, 10-4, in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
The Rockies were able to collect nine hits and three walks against the Cubs starter, chasing him in the fourth inning.
In seven minor league seasons, Candelario has hit.273 with 60 home runs, 383 RBI and 366 runs in 2,531 at-bats over 685 games. His first start there was August 6, 2014.
Colorado improved to 21-12 with its third consecutive victory, tying the 1997 edition for the best 33-game start in franchise history.
The Cubs have lost a season-high-tying four straight games.
On the other side of things, the Rockies rookie did it again, powering through the game despite having to work out of a few tough jams.
Reynolds is now hitting.336 on the season with 12 home runs and 30 RBIs. Over his 35.0 innings and 5.14 ERA, Lackey has 36 Ks and a 2-3 record.

A costly play in the inning was an error on shortstop Javier Baez, who threw the ball away trying to get DJ LeMahieu crossing from second to third on a grounder. Most notably, Chicago loaded the bases in the fourth but a clever deke from Gonzalez in right field kept a run from scoring and the runners from moving up. He also has 18 runs and 16 walks versus 22 strikeouts in 115 plate appearances.
The afternoon opener sees a duel of 4-1 pitchers as the Cubs send Jake Arrieta to the mound while the Rockies answer with Antonio Senzatela.
During the sixth inning of the first ballgame between the Rockies and Cubs, Reynolds belted a solo home run.
NOTES: Cubs RF Kris Bryant made his first start in the outfield after starting the previous 31 games at third base.
