Trump signs $1 trillion spending bill, keeping government open

Not so fast my friends.

Eager to check off a top campaign promise, Trump sought Sunday to pressure Senate Republicans on the issue. But the way some Democrats and their allies in the media are responding to the measure threatens to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Portman said the "status quo" on health care is unsustainable, however. "And by the time the people see that premiums are lower, it's a better service, there are more options and more choices, they're going to reward Republicans that stood up and said, 'We're not going to see the Obamacare system, which is failing and collapsing, continue any longer'". Senator Elizabeth Warren is the best example.

Then there are senators like Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky, former presidential candidates who seldom back away from fights and have already signaled they're looking for changes.

The New York Republican, one of Donald Trump's most consistent allies in Congress, said his staff read the legislation, the text of which was made available less than a day before the vote.

Historically, conditions that could trigger higher premiums or coverage denials have been mostly chronic diseases and syndromes.

"I think the consequences of failure would be catastrophic". The House bill halts the expansion, in addition to cutting federal spending on the program, which Trump's health chief argued is flawed and dictates too much from Washington. And that's the loser's move. Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana just told the New York Times: "There's a widespread recognition that the federal government, Congress, has created the right for every American to have health care".

In March, Mr Trump's first attempt to end Obamacare ended in defeat when Republicans failed to win over conservative and moderate party members in the House of Representatives. "They're flooding their elected officials inboxes and voicemails, organizing protests and direct actions, and talking to their neighbors about what's at stake".

So would my two C-sections, the latest of which I had just weeks ago.

Head of Islamic State in Afghanistan Abdul Hasib killed
Officials said the announcement of Hasib's death was delayed until his remains could be positively identified. Defense officials told Fox News that friendly fire was the suspected cause of the Rangers' deaths.

The editorial then turns to the substance of the bill, highlighting that it "takes a machete to Medicaid", "slashes insurance subsidies", "eliminates the individual mandate", "guts protections for people with pre-existing conditions", "makes insurance less comprehensive", and "defunds Planned Parenthood".

As the House's bill meets an uncertain fate in the Senate - some Senate members have made it clear that they intend to rewrite the House bill so as to render it unrecognizable or destroy it altogether - the White House is headed straight toward the "political buzzsaw" that is the investigation into allegations that the Trump 2016 campaign colluded with Russian Federation to tamper with November's elections.

Not so fast. That's what Democrats, and even some Republicans, are saying.

But Collins said she thinks the upper chamber will "come up with a whole new fresh approach that solves the legitimate flaws that do exist with the [Affordable Care Act]. but it will keep some benefits of the ACA".

"We're deeply concerned that the AHCA will result in the loss of public and private coverage for millions of our fellow citizens and reduce critical federal funding to MA", said Blue Cross Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA in a statement.

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, is part of the 12-member working group.

The Democrats have been in denial for years about the problems with Obamacare like sharply rising premiums and insurers bailing out.

If the Republican Obamacare replacement won't remove coverage from people with pre-existing conditions, why are Democrats saying that it will?

Robert B. Reich has served in three national administrations, most recently as secretary of labor under President Bill Clinton. They had aimed to use the fiscal 2018 reconciliation process for their tax reform bill.
