Bills Interview Packers' Gutekunst; Second GM Interview for Beane

News of Gutekunst's interview came as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Panthers assistant general manager Brandon Beane had a second interview with the Bills.

If Beane can bring that with McDermott, along with a fresh perspective on how to build a roster, the Bills are continuing the encouraging trend of not doing the same things they have been for years on end.

So far, the team has held four interviews (three candidates) and have been connected to one other candidate.

The Bills have also interviewed Houston Texans Director of Player Personnel Brian Gaine and Philadelphia Eagles Director of College Scouting Trey Brown. There was some thought that the concurrent searches could delay a hiring, but a second interview is usually a strong indication of which way a team is leaning.

Beane might appeal to Buffalo's "One Voice" initiative as someone with plenty of familiarity with McDermott.

Sunderland relegated after 10 years in Premier League
Within weeks of his sacking, his replacement, Eusebio Sacristan, had La Real fighting for a European spot. Not good enough for this season and probably not up to scratch for next term either.

Although that doesn't mean he will get the job, it means he's the closest to doing so.

Beane, 39, has been in the league for 19 years, all with the Carolina Panthers. With that being said, he could reach that title a lot quicker with Buffalo. He served as interim general manager in 2012 before the Panthers hired current GM Dave Gettleman. Under his control, the team went 6-4.

Packers Director of Pro Personnel Brian Gutekunst met with the Pegulas on Monday. He was a finalist for the 49ers' GM vacancy in January, but ultimately made a decision to re-sign with Green Bay.

A fourth name has been added to the list of those being interviewed for the Buffalo Bills vacant general manager position on Monday. Through their time spent working for a common franchise, it would make sense that the two have a working relationship that could help unify the team's vision.

Lastly, Gaine has been in the National Football League for 18 years, spending just two of those in his current role with Houston.
