With the win, the Predators advance to the Western Conference finals for the first time in franchise history. Goaltender Pekka Rinne stopped 23 of 24 shots in the winning effort. Josi had a goal and an assist, and Calle Jarnkrok added an empty-netter with 60 seconds left.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first period on a goal from Blues forward Paul Stastny, Nashville responded in the second period with a goal from Roman Josi just 35 seconds into the second period.
With their series victory, the Predators will now face either the Anaheim Ducks or the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Final.
St. Louis Blues defenseman Colton Parayko (55) and Nashville Predators right wing Craig Smith (15) collide during the second period in Game 6 of a second-round NHL hockey playoff series Sunday, May 7, 2017, in Nashville, Tenn.
Rickard Rakell scored midway through the second period for Anaheim.
"There were times where we felt like it was winnable, we could've come out on the other side", Yeo said of this series.
James, Cavs complete sweep of Raptors
So the only question left in this series is whether LeBron and the Cavaliers can close out the Raptors with a sweep. Houston made 22 3-pointers in a blowout win in Game 1 , but had struggled from long-range in its two losses.
"I feel like right now, we can do some damage", Rinne said.
Headed to the third period, it was tied at 1-1 before Viktor Arvidsson found Ryan Johansen three minutes and 15 seconds into the final period to give the Preds their first lead of the game. We all know that we have what it takes and everything is in our hands. The first goal was an indication of the way the series was going to play out and we saw that last game as well. They proved that through the first four games of this series, too, with a combined 16 goals against the Ducks.
"The expectation is the Stanley Cup", defenseman P.K. Subban said.
Tommy Pham hit two homers, including a two-run drive in the 14th inning, and the St. Louis Cardinals recovered after blowing a four-run lead to beat the Atlanta Braves 6-4 on Sunday and complete a three-game sweep. Vladimir Tarasenko put it on net from the right circle, Rinne made the initial stop, and Stastny whacked the rebound across the line. The Blues scored on just one of 15 power-play chances against Minnesota in the first round and posted the same numbers against Nashville.
The Predators, though, got the goal back in the second period and from a familiar source - their defense. It was Josi's fourth goal of the postseason, tying him with Ryan Ellis for the team lead in goals, and giving the Predators nine tallies from their blueliners, a franchise record in a single postseason. They didn't pick up Nashville's rush properly and it ended with Mattias Ekholm firing a flawless pass to Josi, who didn't have a defender near him.
