A year ago (2016) was the exception with many communities around here getting little to no rainfall let alone severe weather during the climatological peak of the season.

The line of storms will first move into NW Arkansas with the potential for a few storms to be severe with damaging wind.

Timing for this severe threat will be after 2 p.m. and lasting through sunset. Temperatures will cool down on Wednesday.

Because it's hard to get accurate wind speed measurements in most of Arkansas, the National Weather Service relies on reports of roofs being swept off houses or trees getting blown down and snapped to determine wind severity, he said.

Saturday will see an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and a high near 73. But as this high sinks down across the Midwest, our wind will ease tonight. Some strong to severe storms are possible Saturday into Sunday morning. The low will be around 49. The expected low will be around 49 with south winds of 6 to 9 miles per hour becoming west in the evening.

On Wednesday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1 a.m., according to the weather service.
