According to multiple reports, the legendary shortstop - who donned the pinstripes for his entire career - is part of a group that will soon own the Miami Marlins. Forbes reported that the franchise was valued at $US940 million ($A1.2 billion).
Bloomberg reported Tuesday that the sale contract for the Major League Baseball team has not yet been signed, however, citing a source with knowledge of the deal.
Maybe having a member of one of the top political families and one of the greatest ballplayers of all-time onboard will inject a winning culture back into the team.
Other bidders were Quogue Capital LLC founder Wayne Rothbaum, and another buyer group led by Tagg Romney son of former MA governor Mitt Romney. The younger Romney is the managing partner at Solamere Capital, a Boston-based investment firm. The fact Bush was now a failed Republican presidential candidate and Jeter a retired player hardly mattered. The ownership change will require approval from 75 percent of Major League Baseball owners.
