Dale Earnhardt Jr. Retiring From NASCAR After 2017 Season

Earnhardt missed half of last season because of concussion issues, returning at the start of this season only after long and hard rehabilitation. The veteran wanted the opportunity to address his fans and the media while the decision was still fresh. In recent years, Earnhardt has served as a spokesman for Anheuser-Busch and been involved with a variety of promotions and advertising campaigns for the world's largest brewer.

He's no Tony Stewart, but Dale Earnhardt Jr. won't be done racing after retirement. Here's the main reasons he cited. "I was kind of hoping that he would race a little longer".

Earlier this year, when talking about the sudden decision of Carl Edwards to step out of the vehicle, Earnhardt talked about trying to make the decision of whether to continue racing.

"I'm open to being a driver over at JRM when it works and it benefits the company", he said. "I certainly wouldn't make that mistake after he passed".

In 2007, Earnhardt watched from a suite Atlanta Motor Speedway as a young driver in a backmarker vehicle drove with such panache and aggressiveness that Earnhardt sat up and took notice. And he's eighty years old he stepped out of college 25 years ago or something like that maybe 35 years ago my math is not be good to.

Following Jeff Gordon's retirement at the end of last season, Hendrick Motorsports will continue to be reshaped.

Hendrick said Earnhardt's replacement in 2018 has not been decided. It's not going to be a lot of fun to retire, I can imagine.

The season-opening race has passed (Earnhardt wrecked out), but the Florida track does host the Coke Zero 400 on July 1, a race he's won twice.

Earnhardt made his first career Cup Series start on May 30, 1999, at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.

Official estimate could upend Trump tax plan
Lowering the corporate tax rate is a popular idea, particularly because the United States has one of the highest in the world. Reportedly Trump wants it cut to 15 percent, which is more than the 20 percent proposed by lawmakers in his Republican party.

His name? Brad Keselowski, who became an XFINITY champion in 2010 with Team Penske and a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion two years later.

Quite the contrary. Earnhardt will maintain a higher visibility as a auto owner and as a go-to spokesperson for the sport. I didn't set goals. And a half and I think his legacy is going to be partly on the racetrack but I think his legacy is going to be just as much.

But Earnhardt says he has accomplished more in his racing career than he ever expected, so he's satisfied.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. abruptly announced his retirement at the end of the season Tuesday, a decision that will cost NASCAR its most popular driver as the series scrambles to rebuild its fan base. The results, of course, were far less promising than his time with Hendrick in lesser equipment with the two smaller teams.

Kelly Earnhardt Miller, his sister, immediately shook her head no at the question.

"I've always admired what commitment it takes". Outside of having a family, there's a lot of things in business that I'd love to see if I can succeed at. I see with Rick that it's a full-time job and I have to tell him to relax. He'd rather be in Victory Lane than on a boat.

"I enjoy being an asset. I want to replicate that in the next stage of my life".

On one hand the decision appears abrupt.

Pretty much since he broke into the sport, Earnhardt has been one of NASCAR's most adored drivers, endearing himself to racing fans through charm and good nature. I just wanted to do it. I knew racing would put me in that shadow. I was afraid of not being able to do it. "Way more than I ever thought I would accomplish". Byron won seven races in the Truck Series last season and landed a full season ride with JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series.
