Adam Johnson filmed laughing in jail over sex conviction

An investigation has been launched after footballer Adam Johnson was caught on camera telling fellow prisoners he wish he'd raped a schoolgirl.

During Johnson's trial, the jury was read out some of the 834 messages sent between the pair, including one conversation on 31 December 2014 where Johnson found out the girl would not turn 16 until the following November.

In the video, an inmate points out that Johnson didn't rape his victim, to which he replied: 'I wish I f****** did for six years'.

One of the prisoners then says "she's fit" and the ex-Premier League star smirks and agrees.

Johnson: "I didn't even get my c*** out".

A spokesman said: 'We are committed to making prisons places of safety and reform and are stepping up measures to find and block illegal mobile phones.

"Those who break the rules will be punished and can face extra time behind bars".

His comments on a six-minute video indicate that he is in denial about offending behaviour and until he recognises that...

The disgraced former Sunderland star, 29, jailed for grooming, kissing and touching a 15-year-old girl, told jurors at his trial he was "ashamed" of his actions. He continues saying that if he was "Joe Public" he 'would have got a caution at the police station.

Unknown inmate: "How long you got? To make it crystal clear to him: adults can't have sex with children", a spokesperson for the children's charity NSPCC told The Sun.

In July previous year Johnson, who has a young child, was refused permission to appeal against his conviction and sentence for child sex offences.

They said his "applications for permission to appeal against sentence and conviction were refused".

Johnson was found guilty previous year of sexual activity with a child after meeting up with the girl in his Range Rover in County Durham in January 2015.

In the video, Johnson said he felt he had received a tougher sentence because of his celebrity status.
