Barcelona defender Gerard Pique accepted Juventus were the better team in their Champions League tie and deserved to reach the semi-finals.

Earlier this week Pique posted a cryptic tweet which appeared to be in reference to a controversial goal scored by Cristiano Ronaldo in Real Madrid's Champions League victory over Bayern Munich.

But Spanish worldwide Pique says form will count for nothing in the weekend's match.

"We are human, of course something is going to affect us", he said. "On Sunday there's another big match, and we'll go there to compete and try and win", Pique was quoted as saying by ESPNFC.

"Picking youself up after a defeat like this is hard, but we have the best motivation a Cule can have", he said.

He added:"You have to live with these decisions although I am in favour of the VAR".

In a statement from its Amaq news agency, the extremist group gave a pseudonym for the shooter indicating he was Belgian. The claim of responsibility came unusually swiftly for the group, which has been losing territory in Iraq and Syria.

The Spanish defender praised Juventus' dedication to defending and tipped them to win the competition over Real Madrid, Atletico and Monaco.

Luis Suarez went down easily in the box to earn a penalty, converted by Neymar to give Barca a lifeline in the second leg at the Nou Camp.

Pique acknowledges Barca had a mountain to climb as they tried to repeat their famous comeback against Paris Saint-Germain from the previous round and feels his team were second best. "We want to play football and not roulette, which is what these decision are creating". It was a result that was very hard to turn around and it wasn't to be. I wish them the best until the final, I believe they can win it.

"To see Camp Nou like that after a defeat fills me with pride as a Culé", said Pique.

"They are Italians, they know how to defend well and they are specialists in that area".
