Fortunately, Motorsport.com says that McLaren finally got to test like a big-time, functioning Formula One team this morning, with Stoffel Vandoorne logging 49 laps in the first half of the day.
Test and development driver Oliver Turvey was limited to just 17 laps on Tuesday but Vandoorne amassed 81 laps on Wednesday, as McLaren-Honda sought to make progress. "Everything has worked perfectly". But today we are following the test plan and a lot of information has been understood and solutions tested on the vehicle.
The full day of testing did at least give Vandoorne something to smile about, after being forced out of the Bahrain GP before it had even started. I think everyone is working as hard as ever to try and get us back to winning ways and I think everyone's doing everything they can.
"Today was tricky with it being so hot and very gusty but we still managed to get through plenty of work", Hamilton, second to Vettel on Sunday, said.
"It's been very good for both me and the team to be able to try a number of different directions with the set-up. So a very good test in terms of data and results".
NBA Playoffs Round 1: Houston Rockets Blowout Oklahoma City Thunder
It's why he's one of the co-favorites for MVP along with Thunder guard Russell Westbrook . "It was hard", Harden said. This will be just his second trip to the playoffs after he appeared in just one series with the Pelicans, in 2015.
But with Honda having only made temporary fixes to avoid a repeat of the MGU-H problems that hit its Bahrain weekend, Boullier said it would be wrong to believe that the Japanese manufacturer had put reliability concerns behind it totally.
"It is very hard to understand what went wrong", he added. Obviously we didn't get as many laps as we wanted and it was quite a frustrating day in that sense.
"We changed the engine and did 17 laps yesterday, but we couldn't find anything wrong physically on the auto, so I think it's going to be complicated for Honda to understand what's wrong". But for me it has been two years since I last drove the vehicle, so it was great to get back out in a Formula 1 auto and to test again with McLaren-Honda.
"It's maybe coming from a batch problem, maybe some anomalies are vehicle related... there is no common cause".
