Democrat candidate Jon Ossoff fall short in his bid to win a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives from Georgia on Tuesday. Well known to voters, Handel had treated Trump gingerly in a district the president barely carried, but declared Wednesday she'd like to see him campaign for her ahead of the June 20 runoff.

A runoff election will be held June 20 but there are those who believe Tuesday was Ossoff's best shot at taking the seat, although the race is expected to remain competitive.

The election has been closely watched throughout the country and is widely considered to be an early popularity test for President Donald Trump .

"We defied the odds and shattered expectations - and we are ready to fight on and win in June".

"I would hope so", Handel said on CNN.

President Trump has been very engaged in the race, recording a robo-call to help get out the vote and tweeting multiple times.

"To me, what's wonderful is that we continue to see this level shift across the country, a 20-point swing, that puts about 123 Republican seats potentially in play", said Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas. Last week the GOP held on to held a conservative Kansas seat vacated when Trump tapped Republican Representative Mike Pompeo to head the Central Intelligence Agency.

I'm used to it, Bhuvneshwar says after match-winning effort
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 5 wickets from 4 overs and conceded just 19 runs. Sunrsiers skipper David Warner sounded relieved to have a bowler like Bhuvneshwar in his attack.

Planned Parenthood is still holding Handel - who would be the first female Republican Congresswoman from Georgia - responsible for the imbroglio, calling her an "anti-health care extremist" in a statement following the results of the first round of the election. By contrast, the Republican Party mobilised about US$2 million in counter-advertising, portraying the Democrat as an outsider who is "too liberal". "Glad to be of help!" Trump recorded a robocall to Republicans in the district and attacked Ossoff on Twitter repeatedly on Monday and Tuesday.

"I don't know", Sanders replied.

Camerota began the segment by noting that Handel had just sent an email to the GOP occupant of the White House stating: "Thank you for the call this morning".

Ultimately, roughly a dozen Republican candidates received a combined 51 percent of the vote on Tuesday, while Ossoff and four other Democratic candidates received 49 percent. She was hammered by Republican foes in the runoff who aligned themselves with Trump - raising the prospect that those Trump voters could skip the runoff entirely.

More tests await, with special elections approaching in Montana and SC in May and June.

In 2010, when she was running for Governor of Georgia, Handel wrote in a blog post: "Let me be clear, since I am pro-life, I do not support the mission of Planned Parenthood".

"The primary goal of Mr. Trump's first tax bill should be to fix the federal corporate and small-business tax system, which has made America increasingly uncompetitive in global markets and has reduced jobs and wages here at home", they advise.
