Fresno police say three people were killed and one person was injured in a Central Fresno shooting.

A man wanted in the slaying of a motel security guard fatally shot three men he apparently chose at random, Fresno, California, police said. Evacuated office workers stand by, with a deceased shooting victim down on the sidewalk Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Fresno, Calif. When the cop learned Muhammad was wanted for a probation violation he was arrested and his vehicle was searched. On several occasions, he wrote updates that included the phrase "Allahu Akbar", meaning "God is great" in Arabic.

"These individuals who were chosen today did not do anything to deserve what they got", Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said. Police found bullets on the shooting suspect but no gun, and K9 units were called in to hunt for a weapon.

According to police, Muhammad walked up to a Pacific Gas and Electric Co. utility truck about 10:45 a.m. (1:45 p.m. ET) and fired four shots, striking the passenger. The driver drove to a nearby police station to alert them about the shooting. He opened fire at four locations within a block.

The shooter, believed to be Muhammad, then began walking and fired at a neighborhood resident but missed, police said, before he encountered another local resident and shot that person to death. Dyer said the suspect made other statements to police but did not go into any details about what they were.

Another victim, a 37-year-old man, had just picked up a bag of groceries Tuesday at a Catholic Charities building when he was gunned down. The final two victims are believed to be clients of the charity.

Dan Lynch of Fresno County Emergency Medical Services says the two wounded by gunfire have been transported to hospitals.

Ashlee Wolf of Catholic Charities told the Fresno Bee newspaper (http://bit.ly/2oK6Vzc ) the shooting happened at a bus stop near the charity.
