In a speech to Customs and Border Protection, along the US-Mexico border, in Nogales, Arizona, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Justice Department will add 50 immigration judges this year, and 75 in the next year.
Sessions told host Tucker Carlson that he had "no doubt" that Obama's policies led to the group's growth, saying "so many of these people are illegally here, and they came without proper authority".
"The Department of Justice agrees with the need to rebuild public confidence in law enforcement through common-sense reforms, such as de-escalation training, and we will punish any police conduct that violates civil rights".
Sessions said the Salvadoran arm of the gang was taking advantage of lax immigration enforcement by "sending both recruiters and members to regenerate gangs that previously had been decimated". "MS-13 has become a symbol of this plague that has spread across our country and into our communities".

That still didn't leave at least half a dozen council members happy, which was reflected in their statements. It took place Tuesday after the USA addressed a key objection from Russia, China and others.
The MS-13 gang made headlines this week after four young men, including an honor roll student, were found dead in a park in Central Islip, New York, with law enforcement tracing the murders back to the criminal organization.
Sessions listed recent horrific crimes committed by MS-13 gang members, such as, "two teenage girls in Los Angeles who were killed with machetes and baseball bats". Its members are known for their violent methods and fierce gang loyalty. Since then, federal authorities say, it has sent members north to fill depleted ranks and seek new territory, often in bloody turf wars.
"We mean worldwide criminal organizations that turn cities and suburbs into war zones, that rape and kill innocent civilians, and who profit by smuggling poison and other human beings across our borders". However, it is not uncommon for Sessions to go through his speeches as planned. Sessions says in prepared remarks that gangs like MS-13 "represent one of the gravest threats to American safety". Last year, they fell in every major crime category, and they fell in every single district in the city.
Sessions said the gang is also growing across the country with more than 10,000 members in at least 40 states.
