You Can Shell Out For Nintendo's NES Classic Edition

Nintendo has made a decision to discontinue the production of the NES Classic Edition as the company is looking to focus more on the Nintendo Switch and on smartphone games.

According to Nintendo, it never meant for the NES Classic Edition to be a long-term product. While the Switch rode gamer and critic adoration of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to 905,000 US sales in its launch month, Citigroup's analysts believe the console is just too big for young children, historically one of Nintendo's biggest customer demographics, to operate on the go. However, the price of the device came down recently averaging around $100 on the auction site, Wired reported. It is more than obvious that Nintendo knows when to bring back its arsenal of great games and the NES Classic is the most reliable proof of it.

NES Classic Edition will be discontinued, with the last shipments to North America coming this month.

Since the Nintendo NES Classic Edition will be discontinued in the west, Nintendo has also chose to end the Nintendo Mini Famicom in Japan. Nevertheless, due to the clamor of its fans, the Japanese tech company did add extra shipments to its original plans. For the third party production of the accessories, it will be up to the individual manufacturers to decide whether they continue or not.

The NES Classic, an adorable miniature computer with an NES-styled shell that plays 30 different classic NES games, has been one of the most popular limited edition items in recent memory after launching in November.

Why Did Nintendo Pull The Plug On The NES Classic Edition?

Because of this, they believe that Nintendo will address that particular issue soon enough by introducing a "lighter, dedicated handheld version" of the console.

Right now, Switch sales have gone to the skies, as the console, just like the NES Classic, is quickly running out of stock hand-in-hand with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which has been coined the "finest Zelda title of all time".
