Wes Morgan is winning his battle to be fit for Leicester City's Champions League quarter-final showdown with Atletico Madrid, according to boss Craig Shakespeare.

Diego Simeone expects another balanced affair at King Power Stadium on Tuesday.

The France global and his team-mates limbered up with a volleyed passing game before taking part in stretching exercises in the part of the training session open to the media.

Atletico's record says enough, given they have conceded just seven goals in 17 Champions League knock-out matches, but it was still something that went curiously uncommented on in the aftermath of Leicester's 1-0 defeat. "It is down to the individual every time, but it is certainly not just bad luck".

He said: "If I think it's the right thing to do and benefits the team all players are adaptable".

34 - Real Madrid have not failed to score for their past 34 Champions League home games and have won 34 out of 40 at the Santiago Bernabeu since 2010-11 (D4 L2).

Vincent Kompany was among the scorers as Manchester City beat Southampton 3-0 to climb above Liverpool into third in the Premier League yesterday.

Carrasco is one of those players who scores in streaks, so it's pretty ominous for Leicester that he ended a two-month barren spell with two goals in Atletico's weekend victory over Osasuna, and it would not be surprising to see him on the target again tonight to secure his team's progress.

Leicester's next league match is against Arsenal on April 26. Ultimately we have to get our own house in order.

Atletico and Leicester are meeting for the third time in a European home/away tie after facing each other in the first round of the 1961/62 Cup Winners' Cup and 1997/98 UEFA Cup. But they also possess another major weapon who I believe can play a big role tonight: Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco, whose ability to run with the ball at great speed is ideally suited to the counter-attack.

Atletico have scored at least once in each of their last six games, and Shakespeare said: "We need to make sure we create more offensively. We could have seen it out if we'd stayed in the lead a bit longer, but they asked a lot of questions of us with their aerial threat".

No team conceded more penalties than Leicester City in this season's Champions League (4, only 2 of which were converted). In Leicester they were encountering the opposite; Palace's equal in being direct and playing with pace, and a team willing to remain deep and attack on the counter.

They were expected to falter in last season's Premier League title race, but the 5,000-1 shots not only improbably lifted the trophy for the first time but seized top spot by 10 points. They had never reached that stage previously (since 1992/93).

Surprise of the matchThat Palace had it in them to respond from going two goals down.
