The brazen and random nature of the shooting has unsettled Northeast Ohio as authorities throughout the region try and track down the suspect before he inflicts more harm.

The woman spoken of in the video, Joy Lane, told CBS she had been in a relationship with Stephens for several years and that she was "sorry all of this has happened".

Officers were sent to check the area, and police say eight elementary schools and a high school were locked down as a precaution.

He said: "There is no need for any further bloodshed".

Facebook said that it didn't receive the first report about the video - which showed a man being shot at close range - until an hour and 50 minutes after the incident. Chopper 6 was over Fairmount Park after police converged on the scene.

Police in Cleveland have been searching for Steve Stephens, 37, since Easter Sunday. A Cleveland man has been accused of uploading footage of the killing to Facebook, and police haven't been able to find him since.

Chief Williams said there was "no rhyme or reason" that led to the murder.

"It feels like my heart is going to stop", the woman said.

Stephens had referred to himself as a case manager. Kortemeyer says he did have a caseload of clients that he managed.

A spokesman said it would co-operate with authorities. Stephens has been dubbed the "Facebook killer" by some after he posted a video of Godwin's murder to Facebook on Sunday.
