A Scott Sinclair hat-trick fired Celtic to their 48th Scottish title with a 5-0 thrashing of Hearts on Monday morning.

Brendan Rodgers' side needed to beat Hearts to become champions after Aberdeen delayed the title win by beating Dundee on Friday.

Sinclair completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot late on as Celtic won the second part of a potential treble, with a Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers to come on 23 April.

"We've won the League Cup as well and we need to push on and try to get the Scottish Cup and keep the unbeaten run going as long as we can".

"So overwhelming has Celtic's domestic dominance been that [manager] Brendan Rodgers was nearly blushing as he celebrated afterwards with his players", says Keith Jackson of the Daily Record.

There were no wholesale changes to the squad inherited by Rodgers from Ronny Deila.

Sinclair had put Celtic two goals to the good with a quickfire brace within the first half-an-hour, combing well with Patrick Roberts on both occasions.

It was a much more convincing performance by the Parkhead club this time as they swept away the Jambos. I still am ambitious but being at Celtic makes you reassess. I enjoy playing, winning trophies and that is why I want to stay here.

Rodgers played down the suggestion this was his biggest achievement in football.

He has given a new lease of life to Stuart Armstrong by bringing him in to centre midfield to the point he gained his first Scotland cap against Slovenia.

While he missed the game in which the title was wrapped up, Rogic should be back on the park to finish the season and get another medal placed around his neck.

Hearts striker Esmael Goncalves drew a fine save from former Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon in the 10th minute with a powerful drive from the edge of the box, before thwarting the same player minutes later after he had been set up by Jamie Walker.

Mikael Lustig, Jozo Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko have been solid in defence and skipper Scott Brown has driven the team on again. Left-back Kieran Tierney, still only 19, has kept his standards high and winger James Forrest has improved his consistency.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has ruled out a return to the Premier League amid rumours he could replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal during the off-season.

He said: "Callum McGregor never gets a mention".
