Chiefs-Patriots opener a near certainty

Early guesses at the season-opening schedule by some experts are proving true with a report from Ben Volin at the Boston Globe that the New England Patriots "will nearly certainly" open the season against the Kansas City Chiefs. Finally, in February, he had to come face to face with Tom Brady, whom he suspended for four games at the start of the 2016 season, and the team. While The Globe reports the Falcons want to show off their new stadium, ESPN reports that the Falcons were out of the mix, as Super Bowl rematches presented an inordinately large challenge, as teams spend the entire offseason to get over the loss.

A little more than two months removed from the most epic comeback in Super Bowl history, the New England Patriots are back to the grind at Gillette Stadium.

The Patriots' home schedule also will include games against the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers, plus the three AFC East clubs.

North Korea fails missile launch as Pence lands in South Korea
Mr Pence's visit, full of Cold War symbolism, comes amid increasing tensions and heated rhetoric on the Korean Peninsula. Pyongyang carried out its fourth and fifth nuclear detonations in January and September past year respectively.

The Chiefs went 12-4 last season and lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional round of the playoffs after winning the second seed in the conference as the AFC West champions.

In six career games against the Chiefs, Tom Brady has gone 4-2 with 1,442 passing yards (240.3 per contest), nine touchdowns and seven interceptions for a rating of 88.2, the fourth-lowest mark that he's had against any National Football League team throughout his Hall of Fame career.

That kind of versatility is invaluable in New England and has warranted heavy investment at the position in the past.
