The US is "disappointed but not surprised" at Russia's response to its strikes on a Syrian air base suspected of storing chemical weapons, said US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
The White House says President Donald Trump spoke with Saudi Arabia's king about Syria and he "reaffirmed strong Saudi support for the United States' military strike against the Sayrat airfield".
"We don't see a peaceful Syria with Assad in there", Haley said.

Tillerson also held what he called a "productive" two-hour long meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. He said the two sides would also discuss disagreements on Syria and how to end the country's six-year civil war.
Boris Johnson has pulled out of a visit to Moscow in the wake of the Syrian chemical weapons attack.
He called the Assad government a main force against terrorism and said it deserved the presumption of innocence in the chemical weapons attack.
More than 320,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict erupted in March 2011 with anti-government demonstrations.
"This is part of the problem with Syria, Russia's sponsorship of [Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's] murderous regime".
At least 70 civilians were killed in the chemical attack on the region of Khan Sheikhoun. Earlier, U.S. military officials had said they were looking into whether Russian Federation participated, possibly by using a drone to help eliminate evidence afterward.
Still, most Republican leaders applauded the president, and some Democrats backed him, too. "The world is waiting for Russian Federation to reconsider its misplaced alliance with Bashar Assad".
"But where I differ from this administration, and I took the same position with respect to President Obama, we are a nation where you're not supposed to initiate military action, start war, without a plan that's presented to and approved by Congress", Kaine told Todd.
