Soccer fans of rival teams rioted before a Europa League quarterfinals match at the Parc Olyimique Lyonnais stadium in Lyon, France, on April 13 (video below).
During last year's European Championships, Lyon supporters attacked English fans ahead of an England-Slovakia fixture and three years earlier the club was almost expelled from Ligue 1 following a brawl with Marseille fans.
The kick off to the game was delayed 45 minutes, because the violence did not stop outside.
Incidents inside Lyon's stadium - which hosts the final next season - followed earlier clashes between French and Turkish fans on the streets.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas was subsequently seen calling for calm inside the stadium via a loudspeaker.
The game eventually started at 1950GMT with Aulas sitting amongst Lyon fans behind one of the goals.
"The supporters are waving big Turkish flags".
The sets of fans clashed as projectiles and firecrackers were thrown from the upper tiers onto the lower tiers causing fans to run onto the pitch to shelter from the missiles.
North Korea Is Finally Getting The Attention It's Always Wanted
China on Friday warned the USA and North Korea to cool their aggressive posturing as tensions rise on the Korean Peninsula. By the 1990s, North Korea used the threat of withdrawing from that treaty to win concessions from the West.
Police had also been forced to intervene in trouble in the city before the game.
The start of the high-risk encounter in France had to be delayed 45 minutes as officials attempted to clear the pitch of scores of Lyon fans.
Turkish pro-government media were blaming French fans for Thursday night's trouble.
Pinto then tweeted: "Authorities at Stade de Lyon confirm @Europa League match between @OL and @Besiktas can take place".
Genesio returned to face the press after having more time to reflect on Thursday's events, and he shared Jallet's sentiments, saying: "We've all been affected by what happened yesterday".
Dortmund's game against Monaco in the Champions League quarter-finals was postponed and played on Thursday.
Supporters invaded the pitch in an attempt to escape fighting in the crowd.
