More than 500,000 people finished at least one US marathon in 2015, the past year for which the group Running USA has released its annual report. I am excited. I didn't think I'd be still doing this at nearly 42 years of age. Obviously the body has a lot to do with it.

"[The bombing] changed everything obviously", he says. I vowed I would do everything on my one leg that I'd never done on two and I set my sights on doing the 2017 Houston triathlon. For me and the 36,000 participants in 2014, we just wanted to show our resilience and do something positive after a catastrophic moment for all of us.
Berhanu Hayle won last year's race in two hours 12 minutes 44 seconds after pulling away from twice champion and countryman Lelisa Desisa, who is not competing this year.

This year's Boston Marathon is the 50th anniversary since Kathrine Switzer became the first woman to officially enter and run the Boston Marathon. He chose to end his marathon career in NY because that is where it all began. I had run 15 consecutive Bostons up until then. "I had done a 5k and was a record holder in the 10k".
"It was so tough that I thought it was going to be my first and last", admitted McGinnis, who went through the same ordeal in the 2012 race and turned in a time of 3:51:21. And I'm often stretched thinner than I feel comfortable with.
He has gotten a first-hand account of what the race is going to be like. "Her non-profit - 261 Fearless - empowers women to be active and that's something that I believe in so I was easy to get on board".
"Running's still in my blood", he says. Also, in 2013, I had to run it 11 days later, so that was pretty emotional.
"I just think it;s going to be really exciting", Nardo said.
