It started way back in the 1700s when the Pennsylvania Dutch believed in an egg-laying hare called Oschter Haws which eventually became the Easter Bunny who became popular not for laying eggs, but of creating nests. Easter Eggs were stuffed by the area senior citizens at the local assisted living facilities and our Civil Air Patrol Cadets were on hand to spend time delivering the eggs to each facility.

Egg hunts are in abundance around Cherokee County this Easter weekend.

Effingham VFW Post 1769 will host its 71st annual Easter Egg hunt at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 16. The Easter Egg Hunt will be at Brookdale Pocatello, 1501 Baldy Ave.

The Sherrill Easter Egg Hunt will take place Friday at the Sherrill Community Activity Center, 139 E. Hamilton, at 10 a.m. The first session will start at 1:30 p.m. and is open to all children so children with a range of abilities and their siblings can hunt together.
