Three explosions on Tuesday evening near the soccer team's bus wounded a Dortmund player and a police officer as they headed to a Champions League match against Monaco.

Dortmund police said earlier on Twitter: "After the initial investigation, we assume that this was an attack using serious explosives".

And Dortmund didn't let the Spaniard down on the field despite losing the first leg, which was originally due to be played on Tuesday.

Thomas Tuchel says Dortmund were missing "the little things" against Monaco, just a day after the attack on their team bus.

The second half was a different story and Ousmane Dembele and Shinji Kagawa goals either side of Mbappe's second left it all to play for ahead of the return leg in the Principality. "The bus turned into the main street, when there was a huge boom, a real explosion", Sky television quoted Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Buerki as saying. And it was a fortuitous opener from Mbappe in the 19th minute, with Thomas Lemar's cross deflecting off his knee and going into the net.

Less than 24 hours after the original tie was postponed when three explosions went off near the Dortmund team bus as they made their way to Signal Iduna Park, the Ligue 1 leaders gained the advantage thanks to Kylian Mbappe's double and a Sven Bender own goal.

Three days after the attack that injured Bartra and a policeman who suffered trauma from the noise of the blasts, investigators are still scrambling to find possible culprits.

But the sea of fans, decked out in the team's black and yellow colours and accompanied by an increased police presence, could not quite shake off a feeling of shock after Tuesday's attack in which Spanish defender Marc Bartra was injured. The center back made a thumbs-up gesture with his left hand and wrote on Instagram that he's "doing much better".
