On the National Trust website, for example, it says: 'Join us over the Easter holidays to run through muddy woodlands, around mystical lakes and along nature trails on a Cadbury Egg Hunt'.
The National Trust, which works to preserve landscapes and buildings in the United Kingdom, has a partnership with Mondelez-owned Cadbury to run chocolate Easter egg hunts on its land. "I think we all feel poached by this whole sorry saga, but none of us more so than Cadbury's and the National Trust, who have done nothing wrong and are right to feel egg-rieved by the criticism they have received".
Cadbury faced a similar furore previous year, when customers protested against the removal of the word "Easter" from the front of its packaging, labelling its eggs "Milk Chocolate Eggs" instead.
In a furious attack, Mrs May told ITV: "I'm not just a vicar's daughter, I'm a member of the National Trust as well".
But the National Trust said the claims were "simply not true" and any suggestion it was downplaying Easter's religious significance was "nonsense".
Easter is synonymous with chocolate, Christianity and egg hunts - but this year representatives of these three elements have rather fallen out.
The National Trust is a conservation-focused charity owning or managing hundreds of historic buildings and large areas of rural land.
Theresa May's intervention on Cadbury's great Easter Hunt gaffe has been mocked on social media today.
County considers special tax for Trump's visits
Trump is set to arrive Thursday for the four-day Easter weekend, the seventh of 13 weekends he has been president. Trump's latest visit to his tropical White House was the most historically significant of his presidency so far.
The row involving the Prime Minister, the Church, the company and the National Trust came after the Archbishop of York criticised the chocolate giant over the naming of its annual egg event. What a disincarnate vision of the faith she seems to have: "all about English tradition and labels, but no respect for human lives".
They added: "We want to reassure consumers of our commitment to Easter, which is very prominent within our activity".
"He built houses for all his workers, he built a church, he made provision for schools", Sentamu said. "It is obvious that for him Jesus and justice were two sides of the one coin", Sentamu said. The National Trust's website page about the hunts make several references to Easter.
The chocolate giant has teamed up with the National Trust in the United Kingdom to sponsor a series of school holiday activities, including an egg hunt over the Easter weekend.
But Anna Drew, director of communications for Canterbury Diocese defended the campaign because it contained "plenty of references to Easter". "[Cadbury] proved consistently popular with our members and visitors".
The Easter egg hunt will be taking place in and around the historic cottages where kids will be collecting tokens or a special golden horseshoe which they can trade for a bag of Easter goodies once the hunt is over.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn also criticising the change of branding, he said that the decision to include Cadbury rather than Easter in the logo's title reflected "commercialisation gone a bit too far".
