Broxton and Santana homer, Brewers beat Blue Jays 4-3

Josh Donaldson has a sore calf and is not in the lineup for the struggling Toronto Blue Jays for their home opener.

Says manager John Gibbons: "It's still hanging around". The good news, then, for Toronto is that the lineup should improve - and soon. The first was versus the Cubs on September 8, 2014.

"I felt like that was my opening day", Peralta said.

Donaldson remains one of the best hitters in baseball.

"We'll get it going".

Stroman's complete game was the first for Toronto since R.A. Dickey threw one against Cleveland on September 2, 2015. "Zero reason to panic". "Made a couple pitches to Longoria". Milwaukee starter Chase Anderson, known foremost as a changeup artist, held Toronto hitless through the first three innings.

"That's my goal is to take the ball every five days and go nine innings", Stroman said. That's the mindset, that's the mentality.

United States vows to do more in Syria 'if needed'
Russia's failures to rid Syria of weapons stockpiles "has led to the killing of more children and innocents", he said. In an interview to air Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation," Tillerson said Russians were not targeted by the strikes.

"If he thinks I'm trying to be malicious, he clearly doesn't know who I am", Souza said.

Donaldson (calf) is hitting third as the designated hitter Wednesday against the Brewers, Sportsnet's Mike Wilner reports.

The Brewers and Blue Jays hadn't played here since July 2, 2014, with Wily Peralta and J.A. Happ starting for their respective teams. In his first start this year, Anderson bagged a no-decision with six innings, three hits and one earned versus the Rockies.

But it's not just Martin. Short stop Troy Tulowitzki's bat woke up as he drove in all three Jays runs, but there wasn't much else happening at the plate.

The outfielder hit a three-run homer and was involved in a scrum after a slide during the Rays' 7-2 victory over the Blue Jays on Sunday.

One of the lone highlights for the Blue Jays outside of Stroman's performance, was an athletic catch by Jose Bautista with two outs in the second innings, robbing Orlando Arcia of extra-bases and saving potentially two runs from scoring. Bautista popped out to lead off before Donaldson walked, bringing Kendrys Morales, the tying run, to the plate.

"I always admired the guy when he was on the other team", Gibbons said of Morales. "You don't want him up there at the top getting on where he's got to go station to station. We can kind of protect him a little bit". The walls and shelves of Bucovetsky's bedroom are filled with autographed baseballs, jerseys and old ticket stubs - including one from the first home opener his grandfather attended. But Martin went down looking in disbelief at the called third strike from umpire Jerry Layne. By the time Anderson departed, he'd struck out seven over seven scoreless frames. The Jays took the lead in the first off a solo home run by Donaldson and a Tulowitzki RBI ground out, however those were the only runs they would score. "At the same time, I feel like a lot of guys are doing the right things, it's just not showing up right now for the games". A successful Stroman pickoff throw to second base ended another Brewer threat in the third. Keon Broxton and Domingo Santana homered for the Brew Crew, which improved to 3-5.
