Sony Xperia XA1 with 23-megapixel camera launched at Rs 19990

Soon after launching the high-end Xperia XZs, Sony has launched its mid-tier Xperia XA1 phone in India at a price of Rs 19,990. The phone is priced at Rs. 19,990 and will be made available through all Sony Center and major electronic sores across the country.

"For selfie enthusiasts, the Sony Xperia XA1 is equipped with an 8-megapixel shooter with 1/4" Exmor R mobile image sensor and 23mm wide-angle F2.0 lens alongside features like the Low-light photo shooting at up to ISO 3200, Low-light video at ISO 3200 and Sony's SteadyShot.

The Xperia XA1 comes with a slew of connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.

Sony has packed in an excellent camera setup for the Sony Xperia XA1.

The Xperia XZ Premium will allow Sony Mobile Communications to strengthen its position in the region, says Jason Smith, the company's vice-president for the Middle East and Africa. Dipped in white, black and pink, the XA1 sports a 5-inch HD display with a layer of Gorilla Glass protection. The device is powered by a 2.3GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor, paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage which is further expandable via a microSD card slot.

The device is also the first in the industry to take ultra-slow motion videos of 960 frames per second, which is four times "slower" than other smartphones. It runs on Android Nougat with Sony's own UI skin on top.

Though Sony is touting the Xperia XA1's photographic chops, the rest of the specifications seem to be a bit underwhelming. It also has a fingerprint scanner embedded into the power button. These devices are the successors to the last year's Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra.

This translates into the ability to turn traditionally mundane things into epic moments - imagine dropping a water balloon on someone's head and it exploding dramatically and you get the idea.
