Arsenal draw dims its Champions League chances

Many Arsenal supporters are fed up with their long-serving manager Arsene Wenger and want him to leave at the end of the season following another underwhelming campaign.

Pep Guardiola's first season in England has not been an unqualified success, but he has succeeded in giving City one of the Premier League's sleekest attacks, and Arsenal's equaliser spurred the visitors back to life.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists he has not been set the target of a top-four finish this season.

"I would say that overall, we started with quite a high level of anxiety and we were punished straight away", he explained.

He continued: "In very hard moments in the game I felt that our fans - at 1-0 down, at 2-1 down - could have turned against us".

"We were not completely at our best because of the pressure but we showed mental strength and did not lie down.

I think he has a scan today and we'll know much more tomorrow".

"But we forgot a little bit to play".

Risk premium boosts oil prices following USA strike on Syria
Brent crude, the worldwide benchmark for oil, settled up 25 cents at $56.23 a barrel, its highest since March 7. U.S. crude inventories touched record highs both at the U.S. storage hub of Cushing, Oklahoma, and in the U.S.

De Bruyne struck a post in a spell of City dominance, although Arsenal retaliated five minutes before half-time when Walcott poked beyond Caballero after collecting Mustafi's header into the penalty area.

Arsenal lost French defender Laurent Koscielny to an Achilles tendon injury at the interval.

They were, however, perhaps unfortunate not to win a penalty late on when Nacho Monreal touched the ball with his hand.

A poor run of form means Arsenal have dropped out of the top four and are now sixth in the Premier League table behind Manchester United in fifth.

At the bottom, Swansea City missed a chance to move clear of the relegation zone after a drab 0-0 draw with fellow struggler Middlesbrough at the Liberty Stadium. Second-placed Tottenham beat Burnley.

Middlesbrough, without a win in 12 league games, are four points behind third-bottom Hull, although they have a game in hand on both sides in the battle to avoid dropping into the Championship.

Despite Wenger's praise, there were familiar signs of petulance and uncertainty from Arsenal's players, with goalscorer Walcott trudging off unhappily after being substituted, and Mesut Ozil guilty of pulling out of a 50-50 challenge with Willy Caballero when through on goal.
