Royal couple's plane lands back in Lahore due to bad weather

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a terrifying experience on day four of their royal tour of Pakistan on Thursday when their plane was forced to make an emergency landing.

Pakistani media simultaneously aired archive images of Diana with Khan - then a World Cup-winning cricketer who had just launched his political career - during her own visits to Pakistan more than 20 years ago.

Ahead of their visit, Kensington Palace shared a tribute to Diana on Instagram, writing, "In 1996 and 1997 Diana, Princess of Wales visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, a state-of-the-art cancer facility located in the centre of Lahore".

She and her husband Prince William arrived in an elaborately painted tuk tuk - complete with smiling driver.

"Being here in Pakistan this week, William and I have seen on several occasions how family is at the heart of your culture", she said, before wishing three of the children happy birthday in Urdu, one of Pakistan's official languages.

Few of us have experienced turbulence as bad as that - and it's fair to say there were are a few faces on the flight.

Princess Diana did a great deal of charity work in Lahore and throughout the rest of the country, and became well-known throughout Pakistan.

On the folks they spoke to for the film, Roach said, "We're not revealing the people we talk to". The suits' response: "Will other women come forward?" "They stop watching when there isn't one".

In addition to the Chitrali hats, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also donned the embroidered coat, for William, and shawl and colorful jacket, for Kate, that they were given as gifts upon arriving in Chitral.

The visit is part of their agenda to explore Pakistan, meet the people of the country and witness the effects of climate change.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and William, Duke of Cambridge visit the Chiatibo glacier in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Pakistan.

Their packed schedule today started with a stop at the Islamabad Model College for Girls, where they spoke with young students and heard about the Teach for Pakistan program, before going to Margalla Hills.

She first charmed Pakistanis with an official visit in 1991, and is remembered fondly for her efforts on later private visits to help Khan raise money for a charity cancer hospital.

After a busy day of engagements in Lahore, the royal couple were traveling back to Islamabad on a jet when a terrifying electrical storm hit.
