Greg Abbott has issued a disaster declaration for 16 Texas counties. This declaration makes state resources available to areas impacted by the damaging storms.
The company urged people to stay away from downed power lines and said its crews were working to restore electricity, although the morning commute for many was expected to be severely disrupted. As of 7:40 a.m., Oncor reported there are 64,503 customers without power in Dallas County and 8,527 in Tarrant County.
"Considering the path that the storm took, it went across a pretty densely populated part of our city, we should consider ourselves pretty fortunate that we didn't lose any lives, no fatalities, and no serious injuries", Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said Monday (via the Capital Weather Gang).
A lot of damage has happened along the 635 road in North Dallas.
Tornado warnings were in effect on Monday in far eastern Arkansas, near the Mississippi River, as the storm system moved to the east. He told The Associated Press in a Facebook message that the power at the station went out first, followed by the "distinctive whistle" of a tornado within three minutes.
The storm also forced numerous schools to close.

NBC News reported that a flooring store collapsed near Harry Hines Boulevard and that damage occurred to the front of a shopping center near Marsh and Walnut Hill Lane. Photos show the roof was been blown off with damage strewn across the lawn.
Officials in Arkansas confirmed one fatality and several injuries as a result of the storm, with one person killed after a tree fell on a home and at least two others injured when a gas station was destroyed.
The storm left a miles-long swath of destruction through Dallas, hitting near the Love Field airport in the city's north, the National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center in College Park Maryland said early on Monday. There was also a power outage in Melissa.
The threat for severe weather will remain throughout portions of the south as Monday progresses. There are flight delays in and out of the area, as per the Federal Aviation Administration.
