Timothy and Jonjelyn Savage, parents to the 23-year-old Joycelyn Savage, sat down with CBS This Morning's Gayle King in an interview Friday.
King talked to him and to two women whose parents accuse Kelly of controlling their daughters.
"He needs to rot in jail". "Really, this interview was about R. Kelly's reaction to the "Surviving R. Kelly" documentary and the latest charges, and they said he can not discuss the latest charges because those are still in court".
She saved the interview by remaining seated, maintaining eye contact, and giving him a moment to calm down.
There are a handful of interviews from this decade that will go down in the history books: Kanye West's appearance on Sway, Charlie Sheen's Tiger Blood interview, and now, R. Kelly's sit-down with Gayle King.
In case you missed it, Kelly got extremely emotional when interviewed by King. "When he started screaming, it terrified me", McGee said.
Gayle King had the flawless response when a political commentator confused her with Robin Roberts.
Kelly claimed to King that Joycelyn Savage's father brought her to one of his concerts in 2015. Though the R&B artist was reportedly around the corner, King said that he would "cough very loudly", presumably in an effort to make sure Clary and Savage knew he was listening. I was doing my show.
"We have never received a penny from R. Kelly".
Singer R. Kelly back in custody after child support hearing
Kelly has consistently denied any sexual misconduct and was acquitted of child pornography charges in 2008. It's the first time that Kelly's offered up a one-on-one interview since Lifetime aired Surviving R.
Earlier this week, the CBS This Morning co-anchor spoke to the embattled singer in relation to numerous allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct against women, which he had denied. Clary's family has also denied requesting or receiving money from Kelly.
"I saw Robert (R. Kelly) leave, I did not see him come back in".
"Never in my entire life met Mr. Kelly". I have only talked to him once on the phone. The Clarys say they have been fighting to see their daughter for years. "Trust the process, '" Savage said.
"The beatings, extension cords, anything you could think of".
The parents stated that it's been more than two years since they've actually seen their daughter. Could you please just share that?' " she said.
Roberts said that she was allowed to press and challenge Smollett on details that were not clear with his story.
"I will never be the man that this did not happen to", he told Roberts. And she calls with a... script. 'Momma, I told you I'm happy. But I knew that I wasn't in any real danger.
"But I knew that I wasn't in any real danger", she said.
