Nadler had said Sunday on ABC News that his committee was planning on issuing the document requests, and that Weisselberg and the White House would be included, but declined to provide additional specifics.

The latest move by the US House Judiciary Committee to launch an investigation into allegations of abuse of power and obstruction of justice by US President Donald Trump is actually a huge "trap" for Democrats themselves, Jim Kavanagh, editor of thepolemicist.net, told Sputnik. It is likely, however, that many Democrats see the new investigation as a way to set the stage for impeaching Trump.

The panel is seeking communications between former White House counsel Donald McGahn and the President relating to Michael Flynn, Trump's fired national security adviser, as well as Flynn's statements to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about contacts with Sergey Kislyak, then Russia's ambassador to Washington. The panel will also look into corruption claims.

The oversight panel has also given the White House until Monday to respond to document requests surrounding its clearance process, some of which panel Democrats have been seeking for months.

US President Donald Trump has blasted once again the Russian Federation investigation.

Mr Nadler said the document requests, with responses to most due by March 18, are a way to "begin building the public record" and that the committee has the responsibility to investigate and hold public hearings.

Among the committee's aims is determining whether Trump may have obstructed justice by ousting perceived enemies at the Justice Department, such as former FBI Director James Comey, and abused his presidential power by possibly offering pardons or tampering with witnesses.

No mediation with Pakistan needed: Indian diplomat
The Pakistani government called it "a goodwill gesture aimed at de-escalating rising tensions with India ". A Pakistan military spokesman on Wednesday denied Indian claims that Pakistan used F-16 jets.

He said it was too soon to consider whether impeachment should be pursued, however.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders acknowledged the receipt of the document request, saying in a statement, "The House Judiciary Committee's letter has been received by the White House".

"I cooperate all the time with everybody", Trump said during a reception for the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision Champion North Dakota State Bison football team.

Trump has long denied wrongdoing involving his campaign's links to Russian Federation and during his presidency. In congressional testimony last week, Cohen said the office was still investigating other possible illegal acts involving Trump.

Trump maintains that his campaign did not collude with Russian Federation and has repeatedly attacked the investigation on Twitter.

As evidence of obstruction, Nadler cited Trump's firing of former FBI Director James Comey, who at the time was leading an investigation into Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 USA presidential election and possible collusion between Trump's campaign and Moscow.

Nadler said Mueller and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan are aware of the committee's action.
