Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Arsenal star said: "I can't see anything other than a United win, they will have too much for Fulham".

Rooney, who played alongside Solskjaer at United for three seasons, believes his old teammate is now a serious contender to be the club's next full-time manager, but adds that the Tottenham manager would be the best fit if he is overlooked.

"You can not be a good leader or a manager without good players.so ultimately it's how they respond to what we tell them and they've been fantastic, so all credit to them".

Manchester United do not need "superstar" signings in the summer to become title challengers, according to caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
