UP: Bomb scare forces evacuation of passengers from Akal Takht Express

A low intensity bomb was recovered from Train Number 12317 Akal Takht Express commuting from Howrah to Amritsar, on Thursday morning.

Incidentally, a letter was found near the bomb.

While ANI reported that passengers from two coaches had been evacuated, CNN-News18 said that all the passengers had been taken off the train.

After the recovery of "suspicious object", the train was halted at Akbarganj Railway Station near Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.

"A low-intensity device was found, it has been deactivated and train has left for its destination", ANI quoted Saumitra Yadav, SP GRP, as saying.

When they arrived, they found the infant strapped in his portable auto seat in the closet. As of Wednesday morning, the caretaker has not been arrested or charged with any crime.

Amethi's Additional Superintendent of Police Balram Chari Dubey told IANS that the bomb disposal squad was trying to ascertain the exact nature of the explosive. The bomb disposal squad was informed, who diffused the device at Akbarganj railway station, he added.

The bomb was found in the toilet of the coach B3 of the train following which the police and railway officials went to a tizzy.

A note was also found, along with the object which stated "Dujana ki shahaadat ka badla abb Hindustan ko chukaana padega".

Dujana was one of the most wanted terrorists and carried over Rs. 15 lakh bounty on his head.

After Dujana was killed, the Jammu and Kashmir police had asked the Pakistan High Commission to claim his body and said that the body would not be handed over to the locals as Dujana did not belong to the Kashmir Valley.
