Clarification: This story was updated to reflect that The New York Times reported Mueller's investigators asked the White House for documents related to Flynn and that CNN previously reported the investigators have focused on Flynn's lobbying work for the Turkish government.

The New York Times, which first reported this development, said that though the documents were not sought through a subpoena, this was the first instance of records being sought from the White House.

Flynn's amended filing comes some six months after he was ousted from the White House for misleading the vice president about conversations he had with the then-Russian ambassador to the U.S. It also comes as Special Counsel Robert Mueller and congressional committees are scrutinizing Flynn's business deals and foreign connections.

The Times reported that prosecutors have been investigating Flynn's business dealings with a Turkish-American businessman who worked with Flynn past year, and are trying to determine if the Turkish government was behind payments to Flynn.

Sources say investigators have also asked witnesses if Flynn was secretly paid by the Turkish government.

The document request, while not a formal subpoena, was the latest signal that the probe is gathering pace.

"We've said before we're collaborating with the special counsel on an ongoing basis", he told the newspaper.

Interestingly, Leeds were not the only club interested in Borthwick-Jackson's services - that's according to ESPNFC . Ajax were keen to sign Borthwick-Jackson this summer and held initial discussions with his representatives.

Investigators are seeking to determine whether the Turkish government was involved in the payments, the Times reports.

According to the Times, Flynn's campaign to discredit the opponent of the Turkish government, Fethullah Gulen, began on August 9.

Ty Cobb, a White House attorney, likewise declined to confirm or deny the request, telling CBS News in a statement that "the White House will not be discussing any specific communications with the Special Counsel out of respect for the Special Counsel and his process".

Trump fired Flynn in February over concerns about his Moscow disclosures to Vice President Mike Pence.

"It's full cooperation mode as far as we are concerned".

Mueller's probe is focusing on two $40,000 payments that Flynn Intel made to Inovo, "said witnesses who have been interviewed in the case", according to the Times.
