The mismanagement of the deal for Lukaku that led to the player going to Man U, in addition to the lack of prominence of the Blues so far, have left Chelsea supporters wondering how their club will compete in both the Premier League and Champions League without some serious introductions.

Cesc Fabregas is set to stay at Chelsea after receiving the relevant assurances over his playing time ahead of the new season, despite prolonged attempts by AC Milan to bring him to Italy.

Given Conte arrived in the Premier League in the same summer as Pep Guardiola, there wasn't too much fanfare surrounding his appointment. The hope is they will deflect Milan's interest in Álvaro Morata to secure the Spain forward from Real Madrid ahead of the new campaign, and still manager to prise Sandro from Juve.

The article claims that, with Chelsea back in the Champions League next season, Conte sees Fabregas as a "key member" of his Blues squad.

Conte has already been backed by the club in terms of staff, with trusted associates Paolo Vanoli and Davide Mazzotta joining the Blues as first team assistant and assistant/player analysis respectively.

"I am very happy to have signed a new contract with Chelsea".

News of the deal came on Tuesday, as the club announced the deal via their official website.

"This new contract reflects our belief that he can continue to deliver results both domestically and as we return to European competition in the Champions League".

"We worked extremely hard in our first year to achieve something incredible, which I am very proud of".

The new deal will also put an end to any lingering speculation over the manager's future at the football club. Now we must work even harder to stay at the top.
