The Facebook page of Jennifer LeMay has gotten a lot of attention, after a video was posted to Facebook showing a Minneapolis police officer shooting two dogs in the backyard of the house in north Minneapolis.
The dogs' owner, Jennifer Lemay, posted the video to Facebook Sunday and said the dogs did not pose a threat to the officer.
LeMay said a friend was watching the family's two Staffordshire terriers, Ciroc and Rocko, when her two daughters, ages 18 and 13, came home early from a family camping trip and triggered the home's security alarm just before 9 p.m.
One of her kids accidentally set off the family's home security system at about 8:50 p.m. Saturday night.
Surveillance video that the family shared on Facebook shows an officer walking into the home's fenced backyard when one of the dogs approaches, wagging its tail but with what appears to be bristled hair along its back. The dogs are also physician-prescribed emotional support animals for her two sons, who have anxiety. The officer waits a few moments before climbing the fence out of the yard.
Two officers showed up about 20 minutes later, LeMay told the Star Tribune. LeMay said she has already paid $900 for Ciroc's medical care, but he'll require additional surgery that will cost $5,000 to $7,000. The dogs do not appear aggressive and are seen wagging their tails.

Neither that officer nor the one with him knocked on the front door.
That's when both of LeMay's dogs were shot by the police officer. She has owned the dogs since they were puppies. Ciroc suffered a broken jaw, while Rocko needed stitches, she claims.
The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating this whole mess and has yet to issue any definitive assessment. He has his gun drawn as he is backing out of the property, being followed by the family's dogs.
"We will be pressing charges to the fullest extent of the law and obtaining counsel to do so [but] right now obviously a primary focus is the boys and their health", LeMay wrote.
"We are aware of the recent incident involving MPD officers responding to an audible residential burglary alarm and while at this call an MPD officer discharged their firearm, striking two dogs belonging to the homeowner", Schmidt said in a statement.
