World's Ugliest Dog 2017 Will Melt Your Heart

After undergoing several surgeries, Martha can see again out of one eye and is no longer in pain. The Associated Press news agency said Martha immediately won over the judges by obliviously sprawling across the stage, with no intention of doing any tricks.

Moe, a 16-year-old Brussels Griffon pug-mix, came in second.

In a lighthearted contest often won by small dogs, this year's victor is a big surprise. When Martha is not asleep - as she is most of the day - she playfully bosses around the other dogs Zindler fosters. The California crowd was cheering for Martha from the beginning of the contest but she could not care less.

These dogs some with acne, others with tongues permanently sticking out, are used to getting called ugly. Moe lost his hearing and sight but has a strong sense of smell. Like, last year, a blind Chihuahua-Chinese Crested mix named Sweepee Rambo took home the title.
