At Staples Center he will work with Magic Johnson, a long-serving point guard with the Lakers and two-time Hall of Famer who now works as their president of basketball operations. Los Angeles Lakers' Lonzo Ball, center, poses for photos with Magic Johnson, left, and general manager Rob Pelinka during a news conference, Friday, June 23, 2017, in El Segundo, Calif.
LaVar Ball has lapped up the limelight of his son Lonzo being taken with the number two pick in the NBA Draft. In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live the night of the draft, Lonzo responded to his father's playoffs claim with, "That is definitely the plan". "I'll have another hat on that says, 'I told you so'". When asked about Embiid's harsh comments on a conference call with Los Angeles reporters, Lonzo Ball simply responded, "That's amusing. It's going to be a surprise for you [media] and me", Lonzo said.? "I think the great teams in today's game, the ball's moving around the perimeter and three-point shots are being made".
Johnson, however, kept praising the leadership qualities of Ball, whom the Lakers selected No. 2 overall out of UCLA.
We're thankful for your support in every way.
"I really don't believe in pressure on the basketball court".
Warriors on hand to see Andre Ward defeat Sergey Kovalev by TKO
Howard Lederman of HBO, Dan Rafael of ESPN and the Associated Press were just a few that scored the fight clearly for Kovalev . However the beef has continued to build up, with issues like racism and revenge clouding the air between the two boxers.
"One is we got an All-Star caliber [center] that can spread the floor and open things up".
Pelinka also made a trade, dealing a first-round pick for two other picks.
But if the Lakers are disappointed in free agency again, they'll still have Ball - and his father, LaVar, who had promised for years that his son would end up with the Lakers. I think everybody understands playing with somebody with Lonzo's talent will make them better and also get them easier baskets.
Walton was also asked if he just wanted LaVar to stay out of the spotlight.
Added Johnson, "Guys want to get out on that break and run hard because they know Lonzo will find them and not just give them a pass, but a scoring pass. See, some people can pass, but very few people can lead to a scoring pass. Obviously he's the best point guard to ever play, so I'm looking to go in there and just learn from day one", Ball said during his media rounds. He averaged 13.2 points as a rookie and improved to 15.6 points last season as the Lakers won 26 games.
