"There is nothing at this point to indicate that this tragic case was a hate crime", said Julie Parker, a spokeswoman for the Fairfax County Police Department.

They say she was part of a large group of teenagers walking back on Dranesville Road, toward the All Dulles Area Muslim Society, from McDonald's at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday when the altercation began. The man got out of his vehicle with a baseball bat, and the group immediately ran back to ADAMS. He caught up to them in a nearby parking lot, where he reportedly brandished a metal bat, chasing them on foot.

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson told NBC Washington that Torres, who is originally from El Salvador, was living in the U.S. illegally, and officials filed a detainer against him.

The illegal alien did not have any previous run-ins with ICE before he allegedly murdered Hassanen.

During an intense search for Hassanen on Sunday, an officer stopped a suspicious auto and Martinez Torres was taken into custody, police said earlier.

A man charged with murdering a Muslim teenager who was attacked near her mosque became "enraged" by a traffic argument with one of the girl's friends and hit her with a baseball bat before abducting her, police have said.

Authorities have said an angry driver attacked Nabra with a baseball bat, put her in his auto and took her to another location where he attacked her again.

Relatives identified the girl to The Washington Post as Nabra Hassanen of Reston.

Russian Federation also said it was halting communications with the USA aimed at preventing such incidents. Daraa is where Syria's crisis first broke out in March 2011 as an uprising against Assad's government.

"She then went missing (presumably kidnapped/moved by the suspect) and was found dead this afternoon", Chaker said.

South Lakes High School Principal Kim Retzer said in a letter Tuesday that she visited with Nabra's family a day earlier. Authorities have determined that Darwin Martinez Torres, 22, is responsible for the killing.

At about 3pm Sunday, a woman's remains were found in a pond about 2 miles from the mosque.

"I want to stop the hating", he said.

Nabra Hassanen (17) was attacked early on Sunday in Sterling, Virginia, about 50 km west of Washington, after attending late-night prayers for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, when many Muslims fast from dawn until sunset. The Council on American-Islamic Affairs found a 57 percent increase in anti-Muslim bias incidents from 2015-2016, and a 44 percent increase in anti-Muslim hate crimes.

Police in Virginia say "road rage" prompted the killing 17-year-old Nabra Hassanen. He was arrested in the slaying of a teenage girl who was attacked during a break from an all-night prayer session at her mosque.

During the search, an officer saw a auto driving suspiciously in the area, pulled the driver over and then took him into custody.

Darwin Martinez Torres of Sterling was arraigned in Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and ordered held without bail pending a July 19 court appearance.

A hate crime in Virginia is defined in part as a crime directed against a person because of the person's race, religion or national origin.
