Donald Trump denied telling former FBI director James Comey that he "hoped" he would "let go" of the investigation of Michael Flynn and his links to Russian Federation.
Comey delivered congressional testimony on Thursday that Trump asked the FBI chief to end an investigation into a top aide and demanded a pledge of loyalty - claims disputed by Trump.
Republican Representative Mike Conaway and Democratic Representative Adam Schiff said they had also written to Don McGahn, the White House counsel, and asked him whether White House recordings or memos of Comey's conversations with Trump exist.
During an interview with Fox News, Donald Trump Jr expressed disbelief that Mr Comey felt "threatened" by his conversation with the President before he was sacked.
White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders also defended Trump, responding to Comey's assertion that the president had repeatedly lied.
"When he tells you to do something, guess what?"
During nearly three hours of statements Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey described himself as "stunned" by Trump's "very disturbing" and "very concerning" behavior towards him.

But U.S. officials learned after his return that he had been in a state of coma for weeks before he was returned to the U.S. But in its first statement since the University of Virginia undergraduate's death, North Korea refuted the accusations.
"I'll tell you about that sometime in the very near future", Trump said.
Flynn is one of several Trump advisors whose names have surfaced in the broader probe of contact between Trump's campaign and Russians during last year's presidential election.

Comey said he did so after Trump suggested in a tweet that their conversations may have been recorded. Legal experts and pundits say that, along with the firing of Comey itself, could amount to obstruction of justice.
"I mean, he said he's a leaker", Trump Jr. said. "I mean, I will tell you, I didn't say that".
"Although the law required no reason at all to fire an Federal Bureau of Investigation director, the administration then chose to defame me and, more importantly, the Federal Bureau of Investigation by saying that the organization was in disarray, that it was poorly led, and the workforce had confidence in its leader", Comey said in his opening remarks before the testimony.
