French football fans sang God Save The Queen ahead of the match between France and England in tribute to the victims of attacks in London and Manchester.

England took the lead through Kane from close range (9), but France equalised 12 mins later on thanks to Samuel Umtiti's rebounded initiative.

England manager Southgate was furious after his players failed to take advantage of having an extra man for virtually half the game in the Stade de France and instead succumbed to a late goal by the Euro 2016 finalists. "We have not got anywhere near these teams when it comes to tournaments and finals so that is why we need to play them".

Harry Kane has been captain on his two starts under the new manager and now scored in both games. "Tom Heaton will start and Jack Butland will play the second half", Southgate told reporters after England trained in the leafy Parisian suburb of Croissy-sur-Seine on Monday.

After Tuesday's game, England are next in action in early September with a World Cup qualifying double-header against Malta and Slovakia.

It was a similar situation on France's second goal just before half-time, when Heaton produced another fine save to keep out the 20-year-old Dembele only for Sidibe to reach the ball first and lash it into the back of the net.

"They are more settled and they've had more time, tactically".

"We looked more anxious while they went to 10".

"It's a hard call on Fraser (Forster), who also is a very good goalkeeper, but with those four and Jordan Pickford and a couple of lads coming up potentially from the Championship next year, we're healthy".
