McGregor and Mayweather have finally made it official that the two will be taking to the ring for a junior middleweight boxing match in Las Vegas on 26 August.
McGregor still throws hands in the UFC and the 40-year-old Mayweather officially retired in 2015, but it's expected both fighters could pick up licenses in no time at all.
McGregor spent most of his mixed martial arts career competing at 145lbs but has most recently fought at 155lbs, the weight at which he claimed the UFC lightweight title last November.
According to MMA Fighting, the fight will be sanctioned by the Nevada Athletic Commision and be listed as a professional boxing match.
The fight - under boxing rules - is bound to draw huge interest from fans and massive pay days for the two fighters.

Given McGregor's non-existent boxing experience and Mayweather's reputation as one of the finest fighters in history, many observers are already predicting a mismatch.
"We've been in negotiations for a while", White told SportsCenter. Rovell estimates Mayweather-McGregor will take in $60.5 million in ticket sales, nearly $20 million less than the $79.1 million that Mayweather's fight with Pacquiao claimed. The pair will battle at 154-pounds, in 10-oz. gloves, for a maximum of 12 rounds.
They are also likely getting paid millions for allowing McGregor to fight, and they won't have to do as much work as if they were putting on the show. "Floyd is surrounded by some smart people and we got this thing done. The impossible deal is now done".
Showtime Sports executive vice president Stephen Espinoza said the fight had the potential to appeal to an entirely new category of fans.
The Commission approved the request from Mayweather Promotions, who will be the lead promoter for the game.
