Setback for 'Make in India': Army rejects poor quality assault rifles
The Army has rejected an indigenously built assault rifle for second year in a row citing poor quality and ineffective fire power. Make in India is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet campaign under which he wants to transform India into a manufacturing hub.
The Israel Defense Force has referred the matter to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). During the 1982 Israeli invasion and occupation of Lebanon, around 19,000 Lebanese and Palestinians were killed, mostly civilians, in addition to 657 Israelis, nearly all military, 370 Syrians and 1,000 fighters of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, according to figures cited by the Los Angeles Times, The 34-day battle between the Israeli military and Hezbollah in 2006 took over 1,125 Lebanese lives, mostly civilians, and 119 Israeli lives, about two-thirds being among the armed forces, according to figures gathered by BBC News. Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed Shiite group, has since built up an arsenal that is now believed to include well over 100,000 missiles and rockets aimed at Israel.
"I believe Hezbollah is the main first-circle threat to Israel", he said in a speech at the Herzilya conference.
