Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has been confirmed as Full Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) after a unanimous vote at the ICC Full Council meeting held at the Oval today, the ICC confirmed.

The ICC made the announcement on Thursday after "a recommendation that their applications met newly approved member criteria".

The nation to receive full member status were Bangladesh that too came more than 20 years ago.

It means the number of countries competing at Test level of global cricket has risen to 12. Current officials, players and management have been major cogs but let's not forget the tireless volunteers who worked so many years to get us where we are. No doubt they would be as delighted as we are.

North Korea capital Pyongyang's official newspaper Rodong Sinmun called US President Donald Trump a "psychopath" in an editorial. If they are unable to do so, the USA , with its allies, will! "I would not suggest that we're moving any closer".

Their addition brings the number of countries worldwide eligible for Test cricket up from 10 to 12.

The news will transform cricket in Ireland, with a financial windfall on its way to the game on this island. "As an administrator every achievement is huge and it opens the doors to new challenges and we need to work hard to maintain and sustain our development at the top of the cricket world".

Afghanistan were granted affiliate membership in 2001.
