The 18-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle after leaving Planet Fitness, 306 North Main St., when she was attacked.
The video released by police stops there, but investigators said the man continued to punch the woman a total of 39 times. Download the WFMY News 2 App now. The man suddenly turns around and, coming up behind the woman, he punches her in the head.
On Monday, Erin McCarthy, 18, a member service representative at the North Main Street Planet Fitness, posted photos of her bruises and a surveillance photo of her alleged assailant to Facebook, saying, "Alright, so this is the. who chose to wait 8 hours just to beat (me) for a minute and a half literally. I asked, 'Why? Who are you?'"
The woman did not sustain major injuries. He is described as a white man wearing a white T-shirt, shorts, white sneakers, baseball cap and sunglasses.
She believes that it could possibly be an customer of the gym who had some issue with her, but she says she was unable to recognize the man.

"Obviously he was trying to disguise himself to a point so that nobody could identify him", said Rochester Police Lt. Jeremy Aucoin.
Police are hoping they will be able to track the man down.
Wednesday morning, McCarthy wrote on Facebook that she appreciates the messages and tips people have posted to her page but said she is not a detective and is not getting paid to look for her assailant.
Planet Fitness released a statement saying they are working with local authorities and are committed to assisting however they can in the search.
