According to a report from Sean Deveney of Sporting News, the Clippers are indeed interested in a sign-and-trade for George.
Butler will reportedly push the Bulls' front office to get a deal done with the Cavaliers, the Chicago Sun Times reports.
Looking at both players' stats from last season, the argument could be made that trading for George would be a positive for the Cavaliers. It's entirely possible that the Cavs' season will be decided in the next few weeks, based on which free agents they are able to sign and whether they can or want to make a move for George.
"George hasn't requested a trade before he can opt out of his 2018-19 contract, but did have his agent, Aaron Mintz, tell new IN president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard that he wanted to be forthright on his plans and spare the franchise any confusion about his intentions, league sources told The Vertical", Wojnarowski wrote IN his report.
George, 27, averaged 23.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists for the Pacers during the 2016-17 season. With these factors in play, most teams will not be eager to give up too much to get a deal done. George is a native of Los Angeles and reportedly expressed his desire to play for the Lakers. Or the Lakers can just wait until next summer and sign George outright.

Following the complaint, 15 people were booked under Section 120B (punishment for criminal conspiracy) and Section 124 A (sedition) of the IPC.
It has made the National Basketball Association arms race all the more interesting. The trade and what will be moved between the two teams is fascinating.
A deal with the Lakers might be harder to work out as that franchise is aiming to build around the young players it has been collecting in recent seasons.
However, there is always the possibility that a team could trade for George, and then convince him to stay instead of heading out west to join the Lakers. The Pacers, however, don't want to let him walk without something in return.
"One team source went as far Tuesday as saying there's "zero chance" they'd surrender Thursday night's No. 2 pick or Ingram". And I think, to me, it forces the Lakers to get involved in this in the next couple days and make a representative offer of some kind.
While it all makes sense on the surface, there are several factors that make a George and James combo in Cleveland a complicated situation. He's close friends with LeBron James, he's sick of losing to him in the playoffs and the Cavaliers can nearly guarantee him a trip to the NBA Finals next season.
