A coroner's office in OH is investigating the death of a 22-year-old college student who died shortly after his return to the USA after almost a year and a half in North Korean detention, a spokesman said Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Hamilton County Coroner Dr. Lakshmi Sammaraco said the office accepted the case of Otto Warmbier, who died Monday in a Cincinnati hospital.

Investigators were still reviewing radiological images and awaiting additional medical records requested by the coroner, Zornes told Reuters.

Meanwhile Mr Trump has said that Chinese efforts to persuade North Korea to rein in its nuclear program have failed, ratcheting up the rhetoric over the death of an American student who had been detained in North Korea. Doctors said he returned with severe brain damage, but they were not sure what caused it.

Doctors last week revealed that Mr Warmbier had suffered severe neurological injuries, and described him as being in a state of "unresponsive wakefulness", opening his eyes and blinking, but showing no signs of understanding language or of being aware of his surroundings.

Among the many questions is: Why did he die so soon in America after 17 months in a coma in North Korea with its limited medical resources? He was sentenced to 15 years' hard labour in a gulag for "hostile acts against the DPRK". According to North Korea, he had contracted botulism and passed out after taking a sleeping pill.

In a statement through the foundation Tuesday, John and Diane Foley, of New Hampshire, called Otto Warmbier's death senseless.

South Korea's Blue House on Tuesday cited President Moon separately as saying: "It is very deplorable that North Korea does not respect human rights".

"If China is not going to solve North Korea, we will", Trump told the Financial Times in April.

They're all going to oppose it, but they can't ultimately stop it from eventually getting an up-or-down vote. On Tuesday, they continued their protests, using a parliamentary tactic to slow other Senate business.

"It's a total disgrace what happened to Otto", Mr Trump said during an event in the Oval Office.

U.S. President Donald Trump called the North a "brutal regime" and offered his "deep condolences" to the family of Otto Warmbier. When asked if he thought the last administration could've done more to bring back his son, Fred Warmbier said, "The results speak for themselves".

Doctors said he has suffered extensive loss of brain tissue and "profound weakness and contraction" of his muscles, arms and legs.

"In the years ahead, we must continue to isolate and put pressure on North Korea to change its dictatorial government and protect our allies and friends in this volatile region of the world".

Trump has previously said he sought a diplomatic solution to rein in North Korea.

I am encouraged that we're calling for, pressing for the release of the three remaining Americans in North Korean custody.

USA college student Otto Warmbier died Monday, days after his release from North Korea. Warmbier, an American college student who was released by North Korea in a com.
